25 Nostalgic Memes for Millennial Women Who Wish They Could Wake Up in 2005

Welcome, millennial maidens. Imagine this: it's another Wednesday evening. You've just gotten home from your work commute, head still buzzing with the corporate slang you were forced to learn to communicate in the office. You do your best to follow a good nightly routine — after all, you've been bombarded with Instagram reels of health gurus touting the importance of 'sleep hygiene.' However, after eating your kids' leftover, half-eaten chicken nuggets and doom scrolling on your phone, you finally pass out some time after midnight. 

When you wake up, it's not to your usual iPhone alarm. You wake up to the sound of your mother calling your name. Did she come to visit? When you open your eyes, the walls of your room are pink. There are Tiger Beat magazine posters on just about every flat surface. Squinting, you recognize the Jonas Brothers, Jessie McCartney, and a young Orlando Bloom decked out in pirate garb. You dizzily make your way out of your childhood bedroom and catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. You're about five inches shorter than you remember, and you're wearing a pair of flowing gauchos and a Bobby Jack t-shirt. When you get to the kitchen, your mom pours you a bowl of Cheerios. When she tips the box over, a small, plastic toy lands right on top of your breakfast. It's a figurine from the 3D animated movie Robots. You realize that the year is 2005, you are 12 years old, and no one around you knows what a meme is.
